Building on Our Collective Vision: Ongoing Projects

Beyond the official fabric, several other initiatives of the Sawa Convention North America are already taking shape and delivering tangible impact for the community:

  • Fabric Project – Already completed and available for purchase, it celebrates our shared identity while generating funds to support the Convention’s programs.

  • NASIF Project – This funding mechanism is fully operational. As a backbone initiative, it finances other projects, such as the fabric, and strengthens our community’s self‑sufficiency.

  • Sawa Life Insurance Project – Still in development, this initiative aims to design innovative ways to provide assistance and coverage to Sawa members in North America, reinforcing solidarity in times of need.

  • Database Connect Project – Technically finalized, this digital platform is ready to receive members’ data and become a vital tool for connection, knowledge sharing, and community management.

The successful advancement of these projects is made possible through the inspired leadership of Jean Jacques Ellong and his team, head of the Think Tank Project (TTP) Commission. With skill and dedication, he coordinates the various sub‑commissions and masterfully steers each initiative to life.

The Official SAWA Convention Fabric: A Resolution Brought to Life

One of the most symbolic outcomes of the 2023 SAWA Convention has now materialized: the official fabric, proudly launched, reflects our identity, cultural pride, and collective unity.

This initiative stems from one of the key resolutions adopted during the 2023 convention. It has come to life thanks to the strategic and masterful leadership of the Think Tank Project Commission.

The fabric’s design was entrusted to one of the many hidden talents within our SAWA community. A professional designer, working in close collaboration with the valuable contributions of the entire organizing committee, succeeded in creating a pattern that blends tradition, modernity, strong visual identity, meaning, and contemporary elegance into a unique and expressive fabric.

Crucially, this project was made possible through the financial backing of our internal funding structure,  the North America SAWA Investment Fund (NASIF), itself established by a resolution of the 2003 Convention. Often described as our community’s own development bank, it plays a key role in enabling impactful and visionary initiatives across the diaspora.

We will return soon with more information about this fund,  its mission, structure, and the vital role it plays in empowering our collective progress.

This fabric is more than just material; it’s a symbol of commitment, a thread that connects us all, from Cameroon to the worldwide diaspora.
